WELCOME

Welcome to Minnesota Women in Film and Television. We invite you to take a look around the site to become acquainted with us.

The Minnesota chapter of WIFT was formally established in 2005. It joins over 40 other Women in Film chapters with 10,000 global members. Locally, we are a growing, all-volunteer organization, made up of women who work in film, television and new media in Minnesota. We exist to educate and support women in these industries. In the process, we share ideas, connect with each other, and create momentum that benefits careers. We also have fun.

Meet the Candidates

Ballot

Cheri Anderson (nominated for Secretary)
In her role as Art Director Cheri Anderson brings creative visions to life.  Cheri has designed horror movies, thrillers, a 60's- based period piece, a rock band "road" film, and fantasy and reality-based films. She enjoys commercial work as well. To see some of Cheri's work, visit www.NailsAndSilk.com Cheri says, "I love the energy of filmmaking and the immense amounts of technical and creative talent coming together to produce a work of art."

A business professional as well as an artist Cheri’s past includes experience in both areas. She is a visual artist with an interest in creating multi dimensional work that explores the concept of transition. Her work has been shown in various venues since 1993. She has curated and served as a juror for visual arts and film competitions. While at a Fortune 100 company she managed a department of 30 people with an annual budget of 3 million dollars.

A lifelong Minneapolis resident, she appreciates the vibrant urban life here. While she is happy to call Minneapolis home, her travel for work and pleasure is a major factor in bringing vibrant multi-cultural influences to her projects.

Deborah Fiscus
Deborah has been costuming actors for 22 years, a former clothing designer, she cut into the business the old fashioned way, by working on horror movies in Wisconsin. From there she has kept her foot in the Feature Film world as well as costuming and styling commercials, TV shows and music videos. She loves the collaboration with the Directors and the Art Department, scrambling for the perfect pieces to bring the project's look to fruition. Deborah was the Costume Designer for "Detective Fiction" a 2003 Sundance Film and 'Ana's Playground' a haunting short film about children in war.
I have enjoyed working on the Board of MN WIFT and look forward to the Events and educationl opportunities we have planned in 2012.

Trina Koning
Trina is a screenwriter and producer, having written and produced short narrative and documentary films of her own, while working a full-time day job as a web content manager and project coordinator, among other things. Volunteer community work includes serving on the Board of Directors for both Screenwriters Workshop and Minnesota Women in Film & TV non-profit organizations. She’s also an active member of a weekly script group and crews on films here and there. In whatever free time she can find, she also writes scripts for narrative feature films and web series. Trina earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and served as the editor of the campus literary magazine. Professional memberships include IFP, IFP-Minnesota, and IFP Phoenix.

Amanda Lathrop (nominated for President)
I am active in MN WIFT because I value the ability to collaborate with strong, creative women, building a valuable network and continuing to educate myself about the many facets of this business. Since joining the board three years ago, I have assisted in planning many educational and social events and served as Treasurer. If elected, I will bring the skills I use in my work as a Production Coordinator to the position of President of MN WIFT, helping coordinate our talents and goals and lead our organization to realize our mission statement. I believe I can bring continued value to our members and programs.

Jody Lichtor (nominated for Vice President)
My experience in the film industry began in 1994 as a wardrobe assistant on a Sears Shoes commercial. I worked as a PA and wardrobe/prop stylist to production coordinator, manager on commercials, corporate videos, television series and feature films in an effort to find my own unique niche in the business. Eventually as a result of being hired as a food and prop stylist, that became my position for hire. I have served on the MN WIFT Board since 2008, co-chairing the Communications Committee for my first term, and chairing it during my term as Vice President. I am responsible for overseeing the MN WIFT newsletter and e-blasts. I would like to continue my commitment to MN WIFT and its mission as a member of the next term’s Board of Directors.

JoJo Liebeler (nominated for Treasurer)

Her immersion into filmmaking started from winning the Best Acting award at the National Challenge competition a few years ago. Her narrative short Windows and Walls screened locally, at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival and at Cannes. It is now used at local Colleges to discuss communications and diversity issues. Her films also explore the nature of memories, and other brainy things. Masha chairs Education Committee at MN WIFT, where she enjoys attending educational events as much as organizing them. If you think you have a brilliant idea about an educational event, let her know.
