Welcome to Minnesota Women in Film and Television. We invite you to take a look around the site to become acquainted with us.

The Minnesota chapter of WIFT was formally established in 2005. It joins 40 other Women in Film chapters with 10,000 global members. Locally, we are a growing, all-volunteer organization, made up of women who work in film, television and new media in Minnesota. We exist to educate and support women in these industries. In the process, we share ideas, connect with each other, and create momentum that benefits careers. We also have fun.

In partnership with
WIFTI and Walker Art Center’s
Women with Vision Film Festival

Celebrated

MN WIFT partnered with the Walker Arts Center and WIFTI (Women in Film and Television International), to present the 2nd annual WIFTI Short Film Showcase. Out of a dozen entries, MN WIFT selected the top three winning films:
Grappling Girls by Lisa Blackstone
Pumpkin by Sarah Jean Kruchowski
Operated by Invisible Hands by Nicole Brending

MN WIFT awarded Grand Prize winner, Lisa Blackstone's film, "Grappling Girls" $250 in cash, along with other valuable prizes. Photo: Lisa Blackstone with her DP.

Following the showcase, MNWIFT hosted a reception to meet the local film makers, nosh and a try-your-luck raffle. All raffle proceeds benefited the MN WIFT Grant Fund, established to be awarded to another local filmmaker this year. Specific details of the competition to be announced, so stay tuned!
MN WIFT would like to thank the Walker Arts Center, Sheryl Mousley, Jennifer Jones, and Joe for their invitation to participate in such an esteemed event and for all of their help! Photos taken by Maxine Davis.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: The Chambers Hotel

Chambers Hotel, MNWIFTThe Chambers Hotel is like taking a bite of the Big Apple right here in our own Minne-Apple. With its sophisticated collection of modern art and clean-lined design, the hotel has contemporary appeal. It’s no wonder it’s been the inspired location for a number of still shoots.

As a supporter of MN WIFT, the Chambers has generously helped out with accommodations and gift premiums. Our thanks to the Chambers for their on-going support!
