MN WIFT code of conduct
Our Commitment
Minnesota Women in Film & Television (MN WIFT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting equity, visibility, and opportunity for women and gender-expansive individuals in media and entertainment throughout Minnesota. This Code of Conduct applies to all members, event attendees, volunteers, partners, and individuals engaging with MN WIFT both in person and online. It is intended to ensure a respectful, welcoming, and professional environment for all.
1. Member Code of Conduct
As a member of MN WIFT, you agree to:
- Act in alignment with the mission and values of MN WIFT across all professional, public, and online settings.
- Treat others with professionalism, integrity, and kindness.
- Refrain from conduct that could negatively affect the safety, reputation, or operations of MN WIFT or its community.
- Respect confidentiality around internal discussions, member information, and organizational plans.
- Value and affirm people of all identities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, background, and religion.
- We encourage professional networking at all MN WIFT events. However, please refrain from unsolicited promotion or solicitation of services, events, or products. Let genuine conversation and consent guide any exchange of promotional materials or opportunities.
- Represent your affiliation with MN WIFT truthfully, and do not use the organization’s name, events, or network for personal or commercial gain without written permission.
- Accept responsibility for the conduct of any guests you invite to MN WIFT events.
- Seek approval before using the MN WIFT name, logo, or branding in promotional or public-facing materials.
Membership Conduct & Consideration
MN WIFT reserves the right to delay, deny, or revoke membership if an applicant’s or member’s public conduct—including online behavior—does not align with the values in this Code of Conduct.
All applicants and members are expected to maintain professionalism and respect in their interactions, even outside MN WIFT spaces. Harassment, discrimination, or other forms of misconduct, regardless of where they occur, may result in denial or revocation of membership.
2. Attendee Code of Conduct
All participants in MN WIFT events—whether members or not—are expected to:
- Treat all attendees, speakers, volunteers, and staff with respect and professionalism.
- Refrain from:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise harmful language or jokes
- Unwanted sexual attention or contact
- Disrupting sessions or making others feel unsafe
- Be mindful of boundaries, tone, and appropriate conduct—especially in professional and social spaces.
- Follow all event-specific rules, safety protocols, and guidelines.
- Professional networking at all MN WIFT events is encouraged. However, refrain from unsolicited promotion or solicitation of services, events, or products. Let genuine conversation and consent guide any exchange of promotional materials or opportunities.s.
Violations may result in:
- Immediate removal from an event without refund
- Suspension or ban from future MN WIFT programming
- Notification to law enforcement if necessary
3. Media, Likeness, and Content Use
By attending MN WIFT events:
- You consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded. Your image or voice may be used in MN WIFT promotional materials unless you opt out in writing prior to the event.
- No guerilla filming at MN WIFT events – you may not record, livestream, or distribute event content without written permission. (You’re welcome to share photos or videos of yourself at our events on your personal social media. If others appear in your posts, please make sure you have their consent first.)
- Access to content shared at events is for your personal and educational use only. Sharing or repurposing content on social media, blogs, or publications—without approval—is not permitted.
4. Ownership of Content and Branding
All materials presented or distributed by MN WIFT—including video, audio, visuals, written materials, event names, and logos—are the intellectual property of MN WIFT or its contributors.
- You may not reuse, repost, or modify MN WIFT content without express written consent.
- Unauthorized use of MN WIFT materials or brand elements is prohibited.
5. Reporting Violations
If you experience or witness a violation of this Code at a MN WIFT event, we encourage you to report it:
- Speak with a MN WIFT team member at the event
- Complete [ANONYMOUS GOOGLE FORM]

All reports will be handled confidentially and respectfully. Retaliation against individuals who report concerns will not be tolerated.
6. Enforcement & Consequences
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Removal from an event or forum
- Temporary or permanent suspension of membership or access
- Legal action if appropriate
MN WIFT leadership reserves the right to determine and enforce disciplinary actions in response to misconduct.
7. Updates to This Code
This Code of Conduct may be updated to reflect community feedback or organizational needs. The most current version will always be made available on the MN WIFT website.
